Weeki Wachee State Park in Florida has mermaids. They have been displaying underwater acrobatics since 1946! There is so much history there, it is crazy. A little kitschy, too. If you’re ever in western Florida, this is a must-see!
We first heard about this from Karen in Rhinelander (YMCA) … but, of course, I forgot until Ginger and Ben told us about it again at the rally in February. Paige and I had been determined to visit since then!
Finally, the time arrived … the Hyde family and the Inglis family spent the day watching mermaids, peacocks and the kids just having fun.
It is about an hour north of Clearwater, a suburb of Tampa. (By the way, Clearwater Travel Resort is a great place to stay! A mysterious representative of the Easter Bunny even left Easter baskets for the kids!)
